American wedding, portrait and travel photographer, Emmarie Jackson talks about a citrus themed inspiration at Chateau Cocomar, in Houston, TX.

As you all know, I am all about timeless, elegant and classic. When I heard of this orange themed wedding at Chateau Cocomar in Houston, TX, I have to admit that I had doubts. I've always thought that orange was just too warm of a color for me to appreciate to photograph.  A lot of times, the overall orange tones would overpower skin tones that I had a hard time adjusting my images for color. But by golly this one worked! I think what made it work, was the combination of pastel yellow, grey, muted green and a hint of pink. I've seen yellow and grey work before, and it was beautiful, but add in some orange and its a citrus harmony.

The orange wasn't too shocking. I felt that it was more of a peachy shade, and what's best is that citrus oranges were incorporated with the theme. The table setting had orange roses and ranunculus, with small pink and white flowers as an added touch. My favorite touch was the dried sliced oranges made into a garland that draped with the table arrangements. There were also peach, pink, and yellow floral garland as an added overall accent. Not only on the table setting, but over at the altar. Speaking of the altar, it was just gorgeous! The walls were adorned with yellow, orange and pink flowers with accents of peachy orange fans.

Everything was in citrus orange theme. The stationery, the seating arrangement (made of oranges), the menu, and even the bride's shoes were a soft colored champagne. Even our groom was dressed in grey, with a peachy orange tie to match.

I didn't think it would work, but I think this had to be one of my most favorite themes ever.
